Starcraft 2 protoss9/10/2023 ![]() One notable use came in the 2012 GSL Season 2 finals where Squirtle combined a Void Ray transition with his famous Archon Toilet to help combat Mvp's massive Battlecruiser fleet. Is generally not used due to the standard composition of the Terran being very strong versus it, although versus an opponent that gets a lot of mechanical units like the Thor or the Tank, a few Void Rays can focus down the armored units very fast. Massing purely Stalkers to counter Void-Rays only works against a very low count of the ships (usually in the scenario of early game attacks), however when there are equal numbers of Void-Rays to Stalkers the ships will win most of the time. Massing Void-Rays in this matchup is not ideal anymore as the primary army comp has shifted from a Colossus death-ball base to an Immortal Archon Charge Zealot base, and due to the tendency of the Void Ray to clump up heavily the splash damage of a few Archons can decimate an entire fleet. Using Prismatic Alignment against non-armored units can scare an opponent into retreating, even though it does no extra damage.Ī very good counter to Immortals and Colossi, since they are both armored and cannot attack back. If the player that is facing Void Rays is not aware of the incoming threat, he or she might be caught unprepared and thus there will be an opportunity to deal massive amount of damage. In all these situations, Void Rays can still be used as a threat, forcing the production of anti-air units and keeping the opposing player inside of his or her base. Zerg players can build additional Queens until they are able to morph sufficient numbers of Hydralisks or Mutalisks. Against Terran, sufficient numbers of Marines (especially with Stimpack), or properly controlled Vikings, can deal with Void Rays. Against Protoss, Stalkers can deal with Void Rays easily because of the ease of making large amount of Stalkers, unlike the time required to make Void Rays. This also played a huge mistake in my games.Due to their relatively low number of hit points, Void Rays have limited usefulness in the early game if anticipated by the enemy. I hope this helps and remember, do not get paranoid that every terran goes for battlecruisers. This is basically how I beat Battlecruisers in my games. If somehow, he still gets up to 2-3 BC's, built some stalkers/void rays to defend against them, but do not waste your money! Even if he is not going for BC's, he is either not spending his money or doing some shenanigans. If you see a small army compared to yours or a lack of one, attack with whatever you have (I would use warpgate units) and aim for his mineral lines. ![]() They were waiting to gather enough resources for the BC! And this is when I found my solution. And I noticed something in the behavior of all my BC opponents. Battlecruisers might be a lot of things, but they are not cheap. Your opponent can't beat you with Battlecruisers if they don't have battlecruisers. And I got to this phase where I played against terrans just so I can try to stop BC's. I was gold I believe, when I started getting crushed by Battlecruisers. ![]() The best answer I found that worked for me, I had to find with practice. But trust me the solution I found works with every race, not just zerg. What's the best counter strategy against battlecruisers? I also checked the forums like you did and found this one. I knew that corruptors were the hard counter to BC, but I hated going spire. I also had the exact same problem as zerg.
